Gloucester website development

Most of this city sells to other businesses. Very few of its websites do

Gloucester makes, moves, builds, repairs and insures things, largely for other companies. That kind of sale is won on evidence over weeks, not on a hero image and a book now button. Most sites here are built as though the visitor were a consumer in a hurry, which is a shame, because the buyer usually arrives with a shortlist and a set of questions instead.

01

In the county

We work from Gloucester and the north Cotswolds. A first meeting on site is a short drive rather than a video call.

02

Built to be found

Structured for Google and for the AI answers that now sit above it, which increasingly decide who makes a shortlist at all.

03

Still looked after

Hosted, patched, backed up hourly and monitored by us, for as long as you want us to. Most of our work is sites we have run for years.

Gloucester

A working city, ten miles from the spa town.

Gloucester earns its living differently from its neighbour. Advanced engineering and aerospace out towards Brockworth and Staverton, logistics and distribution along the M5, construction, healthcare, insurance, public sector, and a deep base of trades and specialist suppliers underneath all of it. A great deal of that is sold business to business, on capability and record rather than on impulse.

Nobody buys a machined component, a three year facilities contract or a structural survey off a hero image. The buyer is doing quiet due diligence. Are these people real, what have they actually done, at what scale, which accreditations do they hold, and who would we be dealing with day to day. Most websites in this city leave every one of those questions unanswered, because they were built to the shape of a shop. The enquiry does not bounce, it simply never arrives, and you never learn why.

Then there is the other Gloucester, the one with the Cathedral, the Docks, the Quays and Kingsholm on a match day, plus the city centre trade that lives off it and the Forum at Kings Quarter steadily changing what a Gloucester address means. That is a different job again, and it deserves to be built as one rather than borrowed from a template. So the first question is always which of these you actually are.

Areas we cover across the city and the county
Gloucester city

GL1 to GL4. Westgate, Southgate, the Docks and the Quays, Kingsholm and Barton Street. Retail, hospitality, professional practices, trades and the city’s charities.

The business edge

Gloucester Business Park at Brockworth, plus Quedgeley, Barnwood, Hucclecote, Longlevens and Churchdown.

The wider county

Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Stroud, Cirencester, the Forest of Dean and up onto the Cotswold edge.

We work nationally too. Being local is an option, not a limit

What we build

Four kinds of job, one way of working.

01

Websites for Gloucester businesses

Built around the questions a buyer actually has rather than around a carousel. Who you are, what you have done, at what scale, under which accreditations, and how to reach a person. Fast, accessible and legible on a phone in a yard, and structured so your team can add a project or update a certification without ringing anyone.

Enquiries, quotes and shops

Capability statements, sector pages, case studies, specification downloads, accreditation and insurance detail, and an enquiry route that does not feel like shouting into a void. And where you do sell directly, a proper shop with trade accounts and account pricing rather than a consumer checkout wearing a suit.

03

Being found, in Google and in AI answers

A business buyer rarely searches for your city. They search for a capability, a material, a standard or a problem, and increasingly they ask an assistant to draw up a shortlist before a human sees it. Both of those reward the same thing: pages that say precisely what you do, for whom, to what standard, rather than pages that say you are passionate about quality.

Hosting and looking after it

Hosting, patching, hourly backups, uptime monitoring and someone to ring. Worth saying plainly: a site that has not been touched since it was built is a liability when a procurement team goes looking, and expired certificates and dead links get noticed by exactly the people you cannot afford to lose.

Twenty years is a long time to have to live with your own decisions. It is also why almost everything on this page is a site we still host, patch and answer the phone for.

How it runs

Five stages, and you see every one of them.

01

Talk

Half an hour on what the site has to do, what is not working now, and who it is really for. At your premises in Gloucester if that is easier.

02

Plan

Sitemap, page purpose and a fixed price agreed in writing. This is what everything gets checked against later.

03

Design

You see and sign off the design before a line of it is built, which is the cheapest possible moment to change your mind.

04

Build

Built and tested on a private staging address. You review it on your own phone before anybody else sees it.

05

Look after

Hosting, patching, backups and a monthly look at what the numbers are saying. Or hand it over entirely. Your call.

Questions

The things Gloucester businesses actually ask.

Answered plainly, because a page that dodges the price question tends to get closed.

  1. We sell to other businesses, not to consumers. Is this still for you?

It is most of what we do. Occupational health providers selling to HR teams, lighting design selling to specifiers, transport software selling to local authorities and charities. The work is different in emphasis rather than in kind: less persuasion, more evidence, clear people, clear process, and a site that lets somebody satisfy themselves about you without having to ask.

  2. Our work comes through referrals and tenders. Why does the website matter?

Because the site is where the referral gets checked. Somebody passes your name on, and before anything else happens the other party looks you up. The same is true of a tender, where the panel will have seen your site before they read your submission. A website in this position rarely creates the opportunity, but it routinely loses one, and it does so silently. Nobody rings to say they went elsewhere because your last case study was from 2019.

  3. Do you actually meet clients in Gloucester?

Yes. We work from Gloucester and the north Cotswolds, so a first meeting at your premises is a short drive rather than a video call. After that most people are happy on a call, but the option does not go away.

  4. How much does a website cost?

It depends on scope, goals and features. A capability site for a Gloucester engineering firm and a trade shop with account pricing and stock integration are different pieces of work, and quoting either from a price list would be guessing. We will give you a fixed figure in writing after a proper conversation about what the site has to do.

  5. How long does a build take?

Most sites run somewhere between six and ten weeks from the first meeting to going live. The variable is almost never the build. It is content, and how quickly the photographs, the case studies and the technical detail come back. For business to business work that part usually needs somebody senior to sign it off, so it is worth deciding early who that is.

  6. Will my site rank for Gloucester searches?

Rankings are earned rather than bought, so nobody honest promises you a position. It is also worth checking that Gloucester searches are the ones you want. A business buyer looking for a specialist capability rarely puts a city name in the box, so for a lot of firms here the valuable terms describe what you do rather than where you are. We will look at what people are actually searching for before deciding what to chase.

  7. Can I update it myself afterwards?

Yes. Everything we build runs on WordPress with an editor your team can actually use, so a new project, a renewed accreditation or a change of contact does not have to come back to us. We show you how, we leave you notes, and we are on the end of the phone when something looks odd.

  8. What happens once it goes live?

We host it, patch it, back it up hourly and watch that it is still up. Most of the sites on this page have been in our care for years, which is rather the point. A website that nobody is looking after decays quietly, and you tend to find out from a customer.
